Frequently asked questions
What does Idea2Scratch do?
You describe a Scratch project, review and edit the plan we create, and then download a Scratch 3 (.sb3) file you can open in the Scratch editor.
Do I need an account?
No. There are no accounts. Your work stays in your browser.
What kinds of projects can I make?
Collection, quiz, maze, interactive story, shooting, catch, clicker, top-down, platformer, endless runner, Pong, idle, and tower defense games.
How do I open the file in Scratch?
Go to the Scratch editor, open the File menu, choose “Load from your computer”, and pick the downloaded .sb3 file.
Can I change the plan before the project is created?
Yes. The review step lets you edit the details. The plan you approve is the one used to create your project.
My idea did not turn out as expected. What can I do?
Go back, rewrite your description with a clearer goal, or edit the plan on the review page. You can also report a problem on the Contact page.
Is my work saved?
Your plan and generated file are saved in your browser on this device so you can go back and forth. Clearing your browser data removes them.
Is it free?
Yes, it is currently free to use.
Is this made by the Scratch Team?
No. Idea2Scratch is an independent project and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Scratch Team, the Scratch Foundation, or MIT. Scratch is developed by the Lifelong Kindergarten Group at the MIT Media Lab.
